Aerator Fishing
Can you blow through a straw everyday to replace an aerator for tropical fish?
I had five tropical fish but two of them died. Then one of the others fin ripped. We found out that one of my fish was not a community fish so we put her in a different bowl. (the petstore told us she was a community fish) they have been doing great for two days, but I need some way to give her air. I know they need air to live too, so I have been blowing little bubbles every day. I don’t know if this is doing the job and my mom wont pay for another one because we are going to give her away soon…. also I dont have enough money to buy one. Please help!!

Blowing bubbles will not help them. You exhale CO2 which will react with water to form a mildly acidic solution. Prolonged bubble blowing will affect your pH in a negative way and may stress your fish out more than not having an air pump. If you have enough water surface agitation from a filter or powerhead O2 will readily dissolve and your fish should be fine. HTH.
