Baitcasting Combo
What type of line should i use.?
I just purchased a Shakespeare Xterra Baitcasting Combo. I got it from walmart.com. Now i have heard that with baitcasters you are supposed to use braided line. However when i used braid on my spincaster and had big problems. So on the baitcaster should i use mono/floro or braid. Also what pound and what brand please.
Using braided line unless you really need it is asking for trouble. It tears up both rods and reels when used over extended periods of time. The only reason you would need it is if you are fishing heavy timber or cover.
I regularly catch fish up to 50 lbs and never use anything more than 20 lb mono.
