Black Snap
I want to give you a simple card trick right now. Right here. Ready?
This is how it looks to the observers. You take two black Aces and place them on the table. You say that like attracts like. And so you will show them. One of the Aces is buried deep in the deck. The other is shown to still be on the top.
Then you snap the deck, and both aces are back on top. Like has attracted like. Everything can now be inspected completely.
And now for how to do it.
This trick relies on a simple misdirection. You make the audience think that you have just made a mistake. That is what covers this trick.
You remove the two black Aces. Then you hand them out. As they are being looked at, put a card in your lap (it’s best to perform this when sitting at a table).
When you get the cards back, start to put them on the top of the deck, but let them (or just one) slip off and fall to you lap or the ground.
Apologize for your mistake and pick the card(s) up. However, you also quickly put the other random card on top (your movements are covered by the table).
Then place everything on the top of the deck. Now put the random card in the middle of the deck, explaining that it was an Ace. Show the new top card. It is an Ace. Then snap the deck.
And after that, reveal that the two top cards are . . . the black Aces!
