Counter Strike
Counter-STrike?
I’m extremely new to Counter Strike, so new in fact that I was introduced to it by a friend and am just starting to look for it. Anyway from what I understand it’s a mod of a different game (half life)…Now my question is pretty simple, do I need to have half life to play it?
Sorry for the probably ignorant question, but I’m very curious now that I have a computer that can actually run the game. Thank you
The Long Answer:
Back in the day of 1.5, pre-Steam (the Valve content delivery system), Counter-Strike was a mod that required Half-Life 1. That was about eight years ago. SInce then, it has been repackaged as a standalone (Half-life 1 not needed) game, and updated graphically twice, with slight gameplay changes (Counter-Strike: Condition Zero and Counter-Strike: Source) CS:CZ, requires CS, even now, but Counter-Strike: Source was released as a standalone on the Half-Life 2 Engine, though Half-Life 2 is not required.
