Elite Fly
For pokemon emerald, is this a good team to face the elite four?
Blaiziken- Lvl 59
Moves- Sky upppercut, fire blast, cut, and strength.
Aggron-Lvl 44
Moves-Thunder, Blizzard, iron tail, and surf.
Altaria-Lvl 43
Moves- Dragonbreath, fly, rocksmash, and dragon dance.
Camerupt-Lvl 42
Moves-Magnitude, toxic, explosion, and earthquake.
Gardevoir- Lvl 37
Moves-Teleport, calm mind, psychic, and flash.
Goldduck-Lvl 44
Moves- waterfall, strength, surf, and dive.
Well to be perfectly honest the team itself if good but the moves that go with are awful… you use way too many HM’s where much better moves could be used, and your Gardevoir’s level is much too low, especially seeing as it is one of the best Pokemon in Emerald. Here’s what you should have:
Blaziken – Lvl 59
Sky Uppercut
Flamethrower (TM)
Aerial Ace (TM)
Slash (Lvl Up)/Strength
Your Blaziken’s set wasn’t too bad, but HM’s are a waste on a Pokemon like Blaziken. Flamethrower is there instead of Fire Blast as it is much more accurate and has more PP. Aerial Ace is there as it is an alternative to Cut, as it is more powerful and never misses. I put Slash as an option due to it’s High Critical Hit ratio but keeping Strength is fine.
Aggron – At least level 55, if ability Sturdy Lvl 63
Iron Tail
Brick Break (TM)
Rock Tomb (TM)/Earthquake (TM)
Take Down (Lvl Up)/Double Edge (Lvl 63)/Headbutt (Lvl Up)
Aggron is an attack based Pokemon, Aggron’s base attack stat is almost double that of it’s special attack and even though it can learn Thunder and Blizzard they have low accuracy and with Aggron’s stats, when used, will be weaker than all the attacks listed above. Iron Tail has low accuracy but in RSE that’s the best Steel attack it can have and is there as it get’s STAB (Link at bottom of post) Brick Break is a very useful and attack as it can destroy Light Screen and Reflect Barriers as well as causing decent damage. Rock Tomb’s Speed Lowering is helpful and it’s power is boosted by Aggron’s STAB. If you have 2 Earthquake TM’s use one on Aggron instead of Rock Tomb as it is a powerful and useful attack, but Gyarados needs it more than Aggron does (read below). The Last Move depends on your Aggron’s Ability, if it’s Rock Head go with Take Down or Double Edge (which is more powerful than Take Down), if not use Headbutt as it may also cause flinching. Once you gain access to the Battle Frontier and get some points, if you have Rock Tomb replace it with Rock Slide if not get rid of the last move in the set as Rock Slide is a strong STAB move for Aggron.
Altaria – Lvl 59
Dragon Claw (TM)
Sky Attack (Lvl 59)
Flamethrower (TM)
Dragon Dance
Rock Smash is too weak to do anything on Altaria, and as Altaria’s general stats are rather low, higher powered attacks are needed. Dragon Claw is a good STAB move with more power than Dragonbreath. Sky Attack is another good STAB move which is much better than Fly, Flamethrower is there to take care of Ice Types which are a huge weakness of Altaria’s and Dragon Dance is obviously there to boost Altaria’s power in order for it to attack effectively.
Camerupt – At Least Lvl 55
Earthquake
Eruption (Lvl 45)
Rock Slide (Lvl Up)
Toxic/Selfdestruct/Amnesia (Lvl Up)
With Earthquake there’s no need for Magnitude as Magnitude’s power is usually much lower than Earthquake’s. Earthquake is there as it is powerful and gains STAB, Eruption is also there for STAB but should be used at the start of a battle as it’s power decreases with HP. Rock Slide is in general a good move and a good filler. The Last move is up to you, I put Amnesia as it can potentially keep HP high and Eruption’s power up, but will also lose you a turn.
Gardevoir – Set One – At Least Lvl 55
Psychic
Thunderbolt (TM)
Shadow Ball (TM)
Calm Mind
This is a basic and very effective Gardy set, though it is more effective in DPP as Shadow Ball in RSE is attack based, and thus weaker in this game. Thunderbolt is a general sweeping attack and is effective against many types, common types among the Elite Four, it’s a must for pretty much any Gardy set. Shadow Ball is strong against other Ghosts and other Psychic Types which is where it’s value is. Psychic is the general attack used by Gardevoir and is also backed by STAB. Calm Mind is used to power up and protect Gardevoir.
Gardevoir – Set Two – Lvl 60
Dream Eater (Lvl 60)
Thunderbolt (TM)
Hypnosis (Lvl 51)
Calm Mind/Shadow Ball (TM)
This set is an alternative which can be used if you either don’t want Shadow Ball or want to be able to heal Gardy and attack at the same time. Hypnosis is there to put your opponent to sleep for Dream Eater, which is Gardy’s main attack in this set and is backed by STAB. Thunderbolt is once again there for it’ s type coverage and power. If you want more power and don’t want to use Shadow Ball go for Calm Mind, but if you want more coverage go straight for Shadow Ball.
Personally Golduck should stay as it is and sit in a Box while you are battling the Elite Four, Gyarados is a much more powerful and reliable Pokemon in the Elite Four challenge. If you go to Sootopolis City and use your Super Rod you have a 20% chance of catching one. After catching one just try the following set out for it.
Gyarados – At Least Lvl 55 @Persim Berry
Thrash (Lvl Up)
Surf (HM)
Earthquake (TM)
Dragon Dance (Lvl Up)
The Main attack of this set is Earthquake as, with Gyarados’ attack (which in general is higher than Aggron’s) it will be able to destroy most of your opponents. Thrash is there for taking out straggling or weaker Pokemon, it should be used towards the end of a battle so as to avoid getting confused, it’s power and the fact that is only uses 1PP for 2 – 3 turns is vital in keeping some of Earthquake’s PP for other stronger Pokemon. Surf is used for any Pokemon that Water is good against and shouldn’t be used against just any Pokemon as it’s power will generally be low due to Gyarados’ Sp. Atk being less than half of it’s Attack. Dragon Dance is to increase Gyarados’ power even more so that only the strongest defensive Pokemon can resist it. The Persim Berry is there to combat the confusion that Gyarados may gain after using Thrash for a few turns.
