Fishing Nip
If a tropical fish nips the fins of another fish will the fins grow back?
Agressive fish have been removed but my black neon is somewhat crippled. Its still healthy but its fins are damaged. Ive had this fish for three years before this happened. Is he gonna regain his fins?
They absolutely can and will. My fish have healed back fins lost to both fin rot and nipping, and they heal back quickly and usually look the same afterward. If the tear is large, the fin might grow back a slightly different color or shape, and IF the ray (the hard straight lines between the thinner fin parts) is gone, THAT usually doesn’t grow back.
ADVICE: Keep the water as clean as you can by doing extra water changes while your fish heals. Excess nitrates in the water are likely to cause infection and that can kill a fish fast.
