Fluorocarbon Leaders
Braided line leaders?
I just loaded my baitcasters with 20lb Berkely Fireline and Fireline Crystal superline. Do I need to use a mono of fluorocarbon leader when fishing for bass and pike with spinnerbaits, topwaters, and jerk baits? I use one when fishing carolina rigs, should I use one with a texas rigged worm? When Pike fishing I also use a 9 inch 30lb wire leader.Thanks for any help. Tight lines.
I have not used Berkley fireline/crystal line,I have used Spider wire Braided for years for worm/lizard fishing with no leader with very good success, I always use a Palomar knot and then on tag end tie in a double back up knot up against Palomar knot with no problem of coming loose. On Carolina rig I also use spiderwire with barrel swivel and 3ft. or longer mono leader with very good success. Spinner baits,top water and crank baits I always use Strong mono both green and fluorocarbon depending on water clarity. I also always color about 10 to fifteen ft.of line above lure with a black indelible marker on braided line if not green or as green fades with very good luck,it seems not to spook fish.

Do not know about your selection of Berkley’s line but never pull a braided no stretch line like spiderwire with fingers or hand as it will cut like a razor (I always keep a wood dowel like a cut off piece of broom handle for wrapping line around when necessary to pull hard on line).
