Hook Qty
question on wiring diagram.?
i want to hook 4 single coil subwoofers up to my monoblock amp at 4 ohm so i found this

and it sais to wire one subs power the other other subs ground but would that give that one sub two powers and no ground to it? am i looking at this wrong please explain.
and don’t tell me to go to a professional and have him do it. how am i gonna learn from that? only thing ill learn is how expensive it is to have him do it.
The diagram is correct. It’s showing a complete circuit with the subs paired in series and then paralleled to the amp. The actual circuit is appropriately called series-parallel and causes to voltage to divide on one half of the circuit and the current then divides on each half of the circuit, resulting in all of the subs getting approximately the same power (watts).
There’s really no “power” or “ground” on a speaker or subwoofer, just a positive and negative terminal which correspond to the starting turn and ending turn of the voice coil. The positive and negative serve to keep individual speakers in phase, that is to keep the cones moving in the same direction at the same time. If they move in opposite directions, one cone moves in while the other moves out, the resulting sound waves will tend to cancel each other out, and you’ll get a significant loss of volume, especially apparent at lower frequencies.
Wire your subs exactly like the diagram. If your monoblock amp puts out 1,000 watts RMS, each sub will get 1/4 of that, or approximately 250 watts and will operate in phase with the other 3. And your amp will see a 4ohm impedance.
