My pflueger reel is a bait casting, 8-10lb test, 6′6, med-heavy. Anymore tips on casting with no bird nests?

Here is what you need to do- adjust the tension so that when the rod is horizontal, release the lure and when it hits the ground there will not be an over run when it hits the ground.You may have to adjust it so that it will never backlash as you cast it, but you will not have any distance to the cast. Then you can slowly back off on the tension until you reach a desirable trade off in the distance casted, and no bird nests. But this is also what I think.You may be trying to cast lures that are too light for the rod to perform well with them. For smaller lures and lighter line, I prefer a medium light action rod or a medium action rod – I do not even own a medium-heavy action rod and I have 6 of them.But I strictly bass fish and have no need for the medium heavy action.They just seem too hard to cast the lighter weight lures effectively.
