What are the current laws on defending your ship?
Hey all,
I was just curious. My friend has a sailboat, with two 1/3rd scale napoleons mounted forward, which he claims are functional, ‘just in case of pirates’. I was wondering what the laws were, in the US, on defending a personal ship from an attack or threat of attack. Are we still able to sink enemies on sight?

If your life and property are being threatened you have a right to protect that. 1/3 scale Napoleons aren’t much good though unless they’re close enough for a broadside! I’d opt for a couple of machine guns like 50 Cal and 60 cal. and maybe a couple of 60mm or 80mm mortars. Of course if you had such an encounter, who could you tell or dare tell about it? Specially if you blasted someone to hell and back!
