how to stop my neck from hurting?
i woke up the other morning and my neck was stiff. so i tried to loosen it up by putting some bengay on it and it didnt help hat do i do?
Sorry to hear that you woke up from a stiff neck. Here are some simple steps that you can do to make your neck stop hurting:
I. Do some neck stretches. These exercises for the neck will help you gain mobility and decrease the stiffness. Just do only what you can. These stretches involved bringing your chin to your chest, looking up to the ceiling, bring the right ear to the right shoulder etc- Here are some good diagrams for this: http://www.arc4life.com/site/615058/page/993935 Before you do these neck exercises use a hot pack on your neck for about 10 minutes. Make sure you wrap the hot pack in a towel before using.
II. There may be something about the way that you are sleeping at night that is contributing to the stiff neck that you are waking up with. One good idea is to use a cervical support neck pillow. You want something with a neck roll so that your neck will be in a comfortable position for sleeping. III. Have someone do some muscle work on your neck. Yes, you can use the bengay but don’t simply just rub it on- you want to work out the muscles with your thumbs going from downward to upward with slight pressure. This will help with the muscle spasms and tightness. You can follow that up with an ice pack as well.
