It is very common for a company to have a product made with their name on it, but they don’t actually make the product. For instance, Cabela’s has a series of stores and a large catalog sales department, but they don’t make their own products, they have other companies make them with the Cabela’s name on them.
I would imagine Dick’s does the same thing. Usually the company that makes the product sells the same product under their own name. But, if a large company orders a quantity of product then they can sell them to that company for a decent price because they don’t have to hold on to them in inventory, nor advertise nor stock them. It is a quick transaction placing money in their coffers and not costing them anything.
The only danger is if they offer a warranty and your item breaks, then they may replace it with a totally different but comparable product.
