Which fishing rod is used for casting & to catch large game fish?
This is a question asked by my friend:
I’m having an Abu Garcia Revo Inshore reel, but I’m not sure which rod to buy. I’m planning to use it for casting lure & to catch large game fish like snakehead(5kg++). Can anyone recommend me a rod which I can use for both functions above? I’m looking for something light and strong. Which brand & braid line poundage is good?
How about one of the Abu Garcia Vendetta rods? These were made just for the Revo reels. Particularly the Revo SX but they’d be a great rod to pair with any of the Revo series of reels. How heavy are the lures you are casting? I think the 7′3 MH rated for 1/2oz to 1-3/8oz lures and rated for 10 to 20lb line would work nicely for Snakehead. The Vendetta’s are pretty light. Also check out the St. Croix Mojo Bass rods, particularly the 7′ H “Slop-N-Frog” version. It’ll handle line from 14 to 25lb and lures from 3/8oz to 1-1/2oz.
Keep in mind these are both freshwater Bass rods but I think they’d do great for the fish you’re after.
30lb or 40lb braid should be enough. Power Pro in low-vis green.
