do i need a powerhead?
I am currently setting up a saltwater tank. So far I have the salt at the right level, I have the heat and the filter running(its a fluval 350) I did all the test possible to ensure the water conditions are right. My question is do i need a powerhead? I recently came across a rio 600 which is beautiful. However when i added the sand I had to cylce the water a couple times just to get the water not “muddy looking”. I finally got it so all the sand is settled on the bottom. I am afraid if i add the powerhead it will push up all the sand and make it muddy again? do i even need this powerhead? please help?
Powerheads are not a necessity, but depending on how large your tank is, you may have ‘dead spots’ which have no flow. If you have these I would get a powerhead. Also, you can just tilt the powerhead up so that it won’t move the sand.
