Can anyone please give me some reviews on Shimano Kaibutsu LC S8208 Popping rod?
I have just ordered it – and I intend to use it with my Stella 20000FA for casting. And I was wondering if I have made the right decision.
How do you like it? I disagree with your first answerer, I have a stella 10000 and the vast majority of the rods out there would not hold up to 60lb or more drag or the heavy braided line used. As I am sure you know, you need a very robust rod to survive the abuse a 120lb yellow fin tuna is gonna dish out. I would suggest you go to “the jigging and popping forum” to find your answer. It has been very useful to me in learning the little intricacies about my outfit. I will say this, most would say the stella 20000 is a better jigging reel than the 10000 (I use the 10000 for jigging) and the 10000 is a better reel for popping. They say that because of the higher line capacity in the 20000 which you don’t need for popping, and the higher gear ratio of the 10000 for getting the slack out when popping. I will say, I love it for jigging a.j.s though, that speed really excites them. (I use the xxh 5′8″ trevelle rod) I am assuming you are intending to use your outfit for really heavy duty saltwater popping for the likes of tuna, trevali (in the pac.) cubera snapper, rooster fish, in other words, big, mean, saltwater fish that the reel was made for. Heck, the 20000 would be over kill for fish like atlantic sails, dorado, king mackeral or any other fish that a penn 7500 or 8500 would suffice for.
