why do builders cover all gaps with waterproof silicone?
its a pain when u want to emulsion as it is around lightswitches, between the ceiling and walls and around the skirting boards. etc etc…
You’ve had a poor builder if he used silicon in that way……What he should have used is decorators caulk, its paintable…
Its used to seal all edges so you have no unsightly gaps, gaps look awful and do not make the work look finished….
I have no idea why it would be used at ceiling height unless the plasterer left rough edges and its been used as a filler..
