How do you attach a pre-snelled fishing hook to the main fishing line?
There are many ways to attach a pre-made rig to your main line. First things first, how do you want to fish it?
1) Bottom rig? bank or bell weight attached to main line on the bottom with the pre-made rig tied about 6-8 inches above the weight using a 3 way swivel.
2) Free line? Tie the pre-made rig with a no name knot directly to the main line…no weight. For larger fish use a shock leader or a Bimini twist and then attach the pre made rig with the no name knot.
3) Fish Finder? Thread your line through an egg, bank or bell weight and then thread on a small bead. Tie the main line to a swivel. Take the pre-made rig and insert the looped part through the swivel. Take the hook and insert it through the loop. Pull tight and that’s that.
4) Chicken Rig? Tie the pre-made rigs directly to your main line spacing them out according to the length of each rig and then add a weight to the bottom of your main line.
5) Fixed multi rig? Tie one end of the cigar weight to your main line and then tie on 2 pre made rigs of different lengths to the other end. ( there are variations to this rig as a whole, too many to list all)
There are tons of ways to use a pre made Snelled rig. Use your imagination, learn some knots and go fish. We use them down here for Pompano fishing…I attach a colored marshmallow just above the hook eye to keep the bait afloat or buy the pre rigged ones with a float already attached. ~good luck catchin’.
