a manufacturer sells clear plastic tape in a spool with radius 1cm. the tape is 0.02 cm think and 1.5 cm wide. The combined radius of the spool and the tape is 3 cm. Which of the following amounts is the best approximation of the length of tape on the spool, in meters? Justify your answer.

You find the circumference of the spool, which is 2(radius)(pi) and in this case (2)(1)(pi), in order to find the length of the tape for one wrap-around of the spool.
Then you find out the thickness of the total tape:
-Since total radius is 3 and radius of spool is 1, 3-1 = 2 is the thickness of the total tape.
- 2/ .02 = 100 which is the number of layers of tape.
100(2)(1)(pi) = 628 cm = 6.28 meters
