Stainless Trolling
how do you tie 50 pound stainless steel wire to your trolling lure and main line, using sleeves, spacers, ect.
For solid single-strand wire, use a Haywire twist. (See the link for pictures). Fasten one end of the wire to a swivel or steel ring, and the other end to the lure. (If you tie the line directly to the wire, the wire will cut through the line.)
If you have a multi-strand leader, you crimp sleeves over the wire to form a loop at each end. As above, loop one end to the lure and the other to a ring or swivel. To do this right you need special pliers called a “crimping tool” — if you try it with regular pliers the connection won’t be reliable.
