Stren Magnaflex
Using an old Mono for a leader?
I want to connect 50lb braid to 17lb mono using a swivel. The mono I will be using is stren magnaflex which seems like a good leader but it has been sitting in my house for about 3-4 years.. not sure exactly how long. This will be for CATfish. Well the question is that since it has been sitting around for a few years, will it be too brittle to use as a leader for cats or is it fine?
provided it was out of the sun and weather, it should be fine. try tying it up to a spring scale and see where it snaps, do it a half dozen times with your favorite knot and see if you come close to #17
