Power-pro Vs. Sufix performance braid?
I’m re-spooling a few of my rods with braid. I was going to use power-pro because I already have it on another setup of mine and don’t have any complaints what-so-ever. But my cousin was telling me about Sufix performance braid, and how great it is: diameter, strength, etc… What do you all have to say about either?
Right now I’m torn between trying something new, and sticking with what I’ve got.
Both lie about the diameter, they’re both thicker than they claim. (ie. 10lb powerpro isn’t the 2lb diameter, it’s more like 6lb) Both are fairly smooth, casting well, and usually underrated. 10lb braid, for either brand, actually has a breaking strength of about 14-15lbs.
Most braids are underrated. It helps to make up for the low/no stretch. In bumping up the strength, the company has given you a little more security that the fish won’t break you off.
Suffix seems to hold it’s color a little longer than PowerPro. Also, it tends not to get wind knots quite as much. However, both are HARDLY noticeable differences, and not truely worth contemplating.
If color matters to you, then I suppose that’s a consideration since PowerPro comes in red…?
Otherwise, in all the applications I’ve used these two in, I feel they perform almost identical.
