Tackle Size
In Rugby, is your position determined by your size or skill in the game?
i started playing rugby, and im playing winger. i weigh 136 pounds and have a height of 5,7. i am good at rucking and ok at tackles but im still a winger. so is it your skill in rugby or size or both?
I don’t think its the size as such, but the power and strength. The bigger you are, the more power you have behind you to make the crunching tackles etc, and if the size is muscle – then you have the strength. Size and skill are often interrelated. If you are big, you are less likely to be fast or have good handling skills – so can’t be a back…. If you are small you are more likely to have those skills – so more likely to be a back, and of course you need the strength and power that comes with size to be a forward.
