Tail Jigs
A problem i had over the summer when fishing?
Hello,
As i wind down the fishing and get ready for winter I wanted to ask a question about one of my issues when fishing. I really wanted to use a Buck tail jig but i couldn’t cast it far, so i tried making it into a drop shot with no luck. the weight just didn’t give it the good action i wanted. So how can i use a Buck tail jig and still cast it out far without loosing the action?

Use a float with a sliding system. One that you can adjust the depth of the lure. Fish it like the “float n fly” method popular for smallmouth bass. Use one of the floats that you weight with water for casting weight. Your jig will slip down to the desired depth which can be adjusted to as much as 20 feet if you wish. Or more.
Bobber stops are sold for this or you can just tie a large knot with a separate piece of line to slide to the desired position.
