is it ok to empty capsule of antibiotic onto spoon rather than swallow whole capsule for my 9 year old daughte
My daughter has been prescribed antibiotics whch come in a large torpedo capsule which she just cant swallow! I have been emptying the inside of the capsule onto a sppon and she manages this way (they are like tiny hundreds and thousands) Is this ok? Im worried she is getting them into her system properly. The capsule left over is clear.
She should take them exactly as it is stated in the instructions.
People have died because they haven’t taken medicine in the proper way. For example, breaking a capsule and giving it to your girl could cause the medicine to be released too quickly into the body and she could overdose without the protection the capsule can be designed to give. Sounds silly, but there are recorded cases of this happening!
She CAN swallow the tablet. They are not horse tablets. Get her to take it with a good glug of milk or water.
And make sure she takes all of them…right to the end of the course. This is the way to ensure that superbugs do not keep coming back!
