Why did my cat just pee, RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE?
He has a clean litter tray which he uses well. Then out of the blue he sometimes does it straight in front of me!!
Usually into a plastic bag if theres one on the floor, whether it has clothes in, or a bin bag, or some bubble wrap, anything of that type.
As soon as he does it he runs off so he knows it is wrong
Ah, he’s a bit down and wants you to know there’s something wrong. Peeing on plastic is very common, and your housekeeping must take this into account, so put those things away off the floor. My plastic bag hater, Beau, only pees on bags within my view when he’s upset or not feeling well, as he knows he will get some attention from me. Check him over physically, then look for things that could be stressing him out – a new addition to the family, furniture moved, the Christmas tree in his favourite room smells of other cats/dogs, there are a number of things it could be.
If he starts to overgroom and continues wetting in your sight, pop him to the vet for a check-up. It could be a urine infection or thyroid problem , these commonly present as wetting. If it is stress, there are some good anti-depressants for cats that can help get him back on track.
