Fishing waders and shoe size question?
If you have fishing waders and the stocking foot size says its an 8 what size wading shoe do you need to buy? Do you need to go larger than an 8 for them to fit over the stocking foot part?
take a look at the manufacturers site. They will typically indicate the appropriate sizing for wading boots. They are size comparable to shoe size in that if you typically take a size 10 shoe then you’re typically going to be a size 10 wading boot (give or take a size up or down). The wader’s stockingfoot size is not meant to reflect what size boot you will need – rather there is usually a range for each bootie showing what size feet SHOULD fit in there.
Needless to say, as with any manufacturer, the sizing will vary slightly and it’s ALWAYS best to check them on your feet WITH the waders on…
Waders and wading boots are notoriously difficult to compare sizing brand to brand. Each company has their own way of determininig sizing and sometimes there can be a different sizing chart for different models within the SAME company! (ie. Simms makes a lot of different waders and there are different sizing options for most of their models. Just compare the G3’s to the Freestone…)
Bottom line – TRY THEM ON.
